It felt very focused from the start, and everything we worked on built naturally from one session to the next, so I could actually notice my progress over time. Ryusei pushed and encouraged me just enough, challenging but never overwhelming, and he adjusted the content to fit my level so I never got stuck. I learned how to speak casual Japanese, sound natural, and most of all how to express myself and keep a conversation going without freezing.

I enjoyed it and looked forward to every lesson. I feel like I can hold a conversation more steadily. Even if I was unsure about what to say, I just decided to continue the conversation. Ryusei listened to my concerns and was able to give me constructive feedback while helping me build my confidence.

Now I string thoughts together in Japanese instead of translating in my head, and I don't freeze up nearly as much. The sessions were a real chance to practice in real time, and everything felt super personalized. Anyone who wants to improve their Japanese should absolutely sign up.

Ryusei-san is a very accommodating teacher when it comes to teaching topics that I'm curious about and he adjusts his teaching based on what I already know, which is great. Instead of teaching words separately, he also explains how they all relate and what the patterns are, which makes things way easier to remember. Scheduling-wise, very reliable and communicative should there be any conflicts that he's aware of ahead of time.

Lessons with Ryusei are engaging and insightful. They have helped me tremendously on my Japanese learning journey. I've learned so much already and really look forward to our upcoming sessions!

The lessons are effective and I felt comfortable speaking Japanese. My mistakes are corrected and advice is given in real time. It has helped me learn concepts that I am able to use immediately in daily life. We study not only phrases but grammar and conjunctions as well.

Tyson Sensei is a remarkable teacher. It had been more than 13 years since I studied Japanese in college, and within a couple months, I felt like I regained everything I learned. He will customize the lessons to whatever you're trying to do, whether it be the JLPT, conversational Japanese, culture, beginner, Kansai dialect, etc. He gives very positive and constructive feedback, and will guide your practice outside of the lessons so that you're always learning. Ryusei-sensei is hands down the best Japanese tutor I’ve ever worked with! He recently taught me hiragana, and for the first time, I feel like I finally understand the foundational stepping stone to Japanese. He is a highly motivated teacher with great ambition, and he does an incredible job of helping you truly understand the language. He even creates Instagram videos that directly correlate to the lessons we discuss, which is amazing for review.He is an incredible teacher and a fantastic find I highly recommend him! Just keep in mind that you have to be willing to put in the work to see results. To stay on track, I also love using the Laifu app on days when I'm just doom-scrolling. Even a quick 10-minute practice makes a massive difference!
