Surviving the Konbini
Oss! Day 5. Convenience stores. The cashier asks 4-5 questions in 10 seconds. Here's how to answer.
袋いりますか？
= "Do you need a bag?" You: お願いします (yes) / 大丈夫です (no thanks)
温めますか？
= "Heat it up?" (for bento, etc.) You: お願いします (yes) / そのままで (no, as is)
お箸つけますか？
= "Do you need chopsticks?" You: お願いします (yes) / 大丈夫です (no thanks)
ポイントカードはお持ちですか？
= "Do you have a point card?" You: ないです (no), that's it. Don't overthink this one.
The cheat code
If you don't catch the question, just say: "お願いします" = yes to everything "大丈夫です" = no to everything. You'll be fine.
