Train & Subway Survival
Oss! Day 6. Japanese trains are world-class but the ticket gates are intimidating. Here are the lifesavers.
〜駅はどこですか？
= "Where's 〜 station?" You: すみません、難波駅はどこですか？ Local: あ、こっちです！(points)
〜線はどこですか？
= "Where's the 〜 line?" You: 御堂筋線はどこですか？ Station staff: 6番ホームです〜. 線 (せん) = line. Memorize this one word.
When you mess up: 乗り間違えました
乗り間違えました Means "I got on the wrong train." You: すみません、乗り間違えました. Staff: あ、大丈夫ですよ！次の駅で降りて〜. This phrase saves panic.
